SeeO2 Energy is developing an electrolyser that can produce high-value industrial gases by converting CO2 to carbon monoxide, CO2, and water to syngas (a mixture of CO and H2) and water to hydrogen. These gases are used in the green plastics, chemical, petrochemical, and metal-processing industries, but they are currently produced primarily from fossil sources. SeeO2's technology, which is built on solid oxide electrolysis cells and a proprietary high-performance, low-cost electrocatalyst material, is uniquely tolerant of impurities such as sulfur, allowing the use of CO2 from power plants and other combustion processes, thus capturing and utilizing these emissions before they are emitted to the atmosphere as a greenhouse gas.
