PROBLEM FOCUS
As a precursor to half of global food, ammonia is crucial to modern civilisation but is also responsible for 2% of global emissions. Traditional methods, like Haber-Bosch, are energy intensive and require large-scale, centralised facilities that aren't fit for integration with renewable energy.
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
With its low energy requirement, Nium’s nano-catalyst can handle power and feedstock fluctuations and integrates directly with electrolysers, removing the need for expensive hydrogen storage and compression. Flexible and modular by design, Nium reactors can co-locate alongside renewable energy sources. Decentralising ammonia production in this way enhances energy security, while also delivering a decarbonised and democratised future for energy, food, and fuel.
